Installation:
Planning ahead:
1.) If your building has existing interior lights or you wish to add lighting in the building plain or clear styrene is suggested. It is easy to find and work with. Since our scenes are transparent the light will shine thru from the backside.
2.) All building are not equal. Each one will be different. Some have flat front windows, some have inset doors, some corner buildings have side windows adjacent to the front window. Custom fitting will eventually occur before all your building are completed. Our installation process is intended as a guide.
3.) If you plan to add people figurines inside your building allow 1/2inch or so between the inside of the window and the scene. The larger the window the more visible the figurine and the scene behind it will be.
4.) Setting the scene back from the window can enhance the 3D effect in your building. By moving the mounted scene back and forth behind the window the best effect can be determined. We find since second floor, side and back windows are smaller the effect of back-setting is marginal.

5.) Cut a piece of styrene to fit the first floor inside of the building from wall to wall. Remember to measure twice and cut once. Test fit the styrene to the building. Trim and refit as necessary.
6.) Select the scene for your building, we suggest you cut it out from the page leaving extra margins. Place in the building to see how it looks. Once you determine which scene looks right for your building, peel off the adhesive backing and mount on the styrene from step 5.
7.) Move the scene back and forth in the window to determine where it gives the visual effect you prefer. If using figurines inside the building now is the time to allow enough room for their base. We find 1/2inch works fine.
8.) When back-setting the scene we find it practical to attach two thin vertical strips of wood to each of the outside walls leaving a slot between them. Slide the mounted scene between the strips. If you decide to change scene later just slide the old out and the new in.
Installation: Front Window Upstairs, Side and Back windows
9.) For some strange reason these windows are never the same distance apart or size in most buildings. We find it easiest to simple cut a sheet of styrene to fit the second floor on the front, the back and sides. Remember to measure twice and cut once. Hold each piece up against its wall and mark where the windows are with a pencil.
10.) Cut out the desired scene, again leaving a margin. Place in the window and move side to side to see how the scene looks in each window. If part of the scene you want to show does not, cut the scene apart and temporally tape on the styrene's window marks until you get the view you desire. The spacing between the windows hides the cut marks. Once satisfied peel off the backing and apply to the styrene. Attach the styrene to the inside of the building. .
11.) Place the building on the layout. What a difference. Turning on the lights gives an even more dramatic effect.
